The Capitol is a wonderful local movie theater. The people are always friendly and accommodating, they hire local teens, the snacks are fresh and plentiful, including wonderful ice cream, and the movies are pretty much what's playing around. The seats are comfortable and the theaters are clean. It's a casual space in a historic building that makes no attempt to be a super modern sterile multiplex. Thanks goodness.

my favorite physical theater but mostly "mall movies and they stay way too long! No independent or not top seller movies - really disappointing- used to be much better

This used to be my favorite theatre in Greater Boston until the management tried to turn it into a mainstream megaplex.
The film selection has gone way down (no more independents) and the prices at the snack bar have gone way up. They used to have great ice cream for reasonable prices. No more.

Like its sister theater, the Somerville Theater, the Capitol too has sold its soul to the devil. ONe of the reviewers here (perhaps an owner?) writes, "most importantly, [the Capitol has] a selection of films worth seeing." Let's see: at this writing that would be "Cars 2," "Green Lantern," "Mr. Popper's Penguins," a few more disposable Hollywood commodities, and...oh yes, "Jane Eyre." So much for films "worth seeing"! It's outrageous that 90% of the films showing on Arlington's only community cinema are the same mainstream twaddle one finds at the big multiplexes. To the theater's credit, they do occasionally show classic films. But these are rare.

This is my favorite theater. Fair prices, FRESH popcorn, area with tables if waiting for someone, comfortable movie seats, and good size screen! And most importantly, a selection of films worth seeing.

We had a great time at this theater! Intimate yet spacious screening rooms with state of the art equipment and very comfortable seating. Fabulous ice cream parlor in house and Monroe Saltworks discounted with theater ticket next store. Go Capitol!
