Together for fourteen years, activists Marilyn Maneely and Diane Marini were one of seven same-sex couples who filed a lawsuit seeking equal marriage rights in New Jersey. During the course of that fight, Marilyn was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). Filmmaker Pilar Prassas gives us a moving view of a community supporting an activist, a partner's heartbreak at never being able to marry her lover, and the quest of five children to help their mother live with dignity.
