It's August 1968, and Russian tanks are rolling into Prague. By 1990, the tanks are rolling out, and the Stones are rolling in. A sweeping drama spanning two countries, three generations, and 22 turbulent years, at the end of which all that remains is love - and rock 'n' roll.
An extraordinary theatrical event from four-time Tony Award winner Tom Stoppard ("Arcadia" and "The Coast of Utopia"), fresh from hit runs on Broadway and in London. A co-production with San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre.

Don't buy your tickets thinking this is a musical. It's a challenging, highly intelligent drama with a first act that's often hard to follow and heavy on long political and philosophical polemic. My husband and I were tempted to leave at intermission - as many in the audience did - but was persuaded by my son to stay with it, and glad that we did. While the acting throughout is pitch-perfect, it's not until the second act that the characters strike a more human chord, interacting more on an emotional rather than purely intellectual level. The set design is inspired, and succeeds in drawing us into the dual locales of Cambridge, England and Prague.
