We remember discussing the lyrics to "Louie Louie" in our junior high school cafeteria and wearing out batteries in our red transistor redio trying to figure out exactly what the Kinks were singing. We weren't alone in our clarification quest. Ray Davies, the British rock group's lead singer and songwriter, has said that he struggled with the chords to Richard Berry's 1955 song for the Kinks' mid-'60s recording. That was then, and now is Ray Davies and His Band, who will perform an all-ages show tonight at Berklee. - June Wulff, Globe Staff
Kinks fans may have reason to be hopeful. Davies has been recording with original drummer Mick Avory and a couple of latter-day Kinks. He's even talked about working with his brother Dave. Until then, he's touring in support of his new album, a quirky collection of Kinks classics performed chorally. - Sarah Rodman, Globe Staff

Saw the show in LA. Great show! A must see if you are at all a Kinks fan and a great show even if you are not. He has great energy, humor and his voice sounds exactly as it always has. Could only be better if watching on a sunny afternoon.

Thanks for the richly deserved coverage and comprehensive Bio on this Rock Legend. Can you tell us anything about Ray's brief marriage with Chrissie Hynde and how that dissolved? Would have LOVED to have seen the two of them on the same stage, if that ever occurred!

Not to be a stickler- but the Kinks did not sing "Louie Louie." It was "Lola," you dorks!
