If i must...

Their cocktails are great but the menu is average at best and the food is badly executed.

Amazing!!!

I recently re-visited the Beehive since the opening to check out the new chef and the "scene" - This place truly lives up to the hype. Dinner was amazing, the people and music were great..we returned the next morning to have brunch we had so much fun!

New Chef -- Great Food and Music

Recently went to the Beehive and was blown away by my meal. The waitstaff told me the chef was new and the menu was completely re-vamped. Had the mussels -- and the grilled cheese with tomato. Went back for brunch and enjoyed egg white omelet with jazz in the background.

Great atmosphere, but pretentious and the staff need to lose the attitude

The bottom line: Great atmosphere, but pretentious and the staff need to lose the attitude

Lesson 1: If you are just going for drinks and don't want to wait in line for an hour or more, arrive at 8 PM on a weekend night. I arrived at 8:30 and waited an hour to get into the bar on a Sat night. Then after getting in, we were herded to the upstairs bar where we had to wait somemore to go downstairs to meet up with the rest of the friends. All in all, I got down there an hour and a half later. I'm sure it'll get better in a year or so when it becomes just another place. The other solution is to have a Beehive VIP card (no joke, it was shown to me) - all I can say is this is Boston, not NYC or LA.

Lesson 2: Arrive with a thick skin because you are going to get attitude from somewhere there and check your tab...I was standing at the end of the bar and couldn't see what was on tap and so, I asked one bartender if he could just give me a run down of what was on tap. He actually told me to read it for myself - handed me the menu, turned his back to me, and walked away. Mind you, they have about five things on tap and the bar was not very busy at that time. I mentioned something to the manager who was very nice about it. However, two hours and 1.5 beers later when I asked if I could please have another beer, I was told by the same bartender, "not from me." I was so surprised I asked if he was serious, and he said "dead serious." Not to mention that my girlfriends also had bad service from the other bartenders - wrong drinks made up, tried to make them pay more drinks than they ordered (not the first time this has been heard of at the Beehive), and just further attitude given to them.

The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and it has lost my patronage. I'm just getting too old to put up with that kind of stuff when I've waited for almost two hours to get in and just want simply a nice night out with my friends. However, it does have a good atmosphere, the crowd is perfect for those in their 30's and up, and if they would just take care of the attitude and pretension, I think people would have a perfectly great time. Hope you have a better experience than me if you go there.
