Boston Classical Orchestra presents the incomparable Borromeo String Quartet to celebrate Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 12 at 3 pm in historic Faneuil Hall.
Festivities begin with a transcription of Tchaikovsky’s “Andante doloroso” by Takemitsu in which BCO Music Director Steven Lipsitt joins the Borromeo String Quartet on clarinet. Then comes Debussy’s passionate String Quartet, followed by Tchaikovsky’s lush sextet “A Souvenir of Florence.” Joining the quartet for the Tchaikovsky will be BCO violist Dani Rimoni and cellist Mark Simcox.
The Borromeo String Quartet (Nicholas Kitchen and Kristopher Tong, violins; Mai Motobuchi, viola; Yeesun Kim, cello) is one of the most acclaimed string ensembles in the world, performing more than 100 concerts across three continents every year. Winner of the 2007 Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Borromeo String Quartet is Quartet-in-Residence at the New England Conservatory of Music.
