P8: Still Life Painting Using Color Theory, Adult

Thursday, Four-week Session, July 12 to August 2 Course Description: Studying properties of light and form, this class will create multiple still life paintings focusing on color relationships. Students will contemplate and discuss paintings in the galleries, then utilize their knowledge while painting in the studio. Topics explored include value, color intensity, simultaneous contrast, temperature, light and shadow masses, complimentary colors, neutral colors, and color glazing. All levels welcome.… Show more Instructor: Kaitlyn Stubbs Kaitlyn Stubbs holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting, with Anatomy Certification, from the New York Academy of Art (2012). She earned her BFA in Painting from the University of Georgia (2010). Kaitlyn's work has been exhibited in galleries in Athens, Georgia; Boston, Brooklyn and New York City. She has travelled extensively through South America, Europe, and Australia. While at NYAA, she received rigorous technical training in oil painting, drawing, anatomy, and printmaking. Living and working in New York City, she is a curator at The Cupping Room in SoHo and is currently preparing for an artist's residency in Leipzig, Germany.
