BESA: Muslims who Saved Jews during the Holocaust,an exhibit of portraits by photographer Norman Gershman, who chronicled the tales of the Albanian-Muslim families who, with their Christian neighbors, sheltered and saved more than 2,000 Jews during the Holocaust. When World War II ended, Albania was the only European country to boast a larger number of Jewish people than it had before the Holocaust thanks to Besa the Albanian code of faith and honor that was the source of the rescuers’ courage.
