ALEA III - Xenakis in First Person

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Iannis Xenakis’ birth, ALEA III will present an evening dedicated to his work and music. One of the most original minds of the 20th century, Iannis Xenakis (1922-2001) succeeded in bringing together music, architecture and mathematics to create a large and unusual body of works.

Actor Jake Murphy (as Iannis Xenakis in his study) will narrate texts Xenakis wrote or spoke during interviews and other public appearances. Sam Solomon will lead live performances… Show more of Xenakis works. A documentary video and excerpts from electronic music works will complete the evening.

Persephassa for six percussion players situated around the audience

Excerpts from Persepolis, Diamorphoses and other electroacoustic works.

Video documentary:
Exerpts from Monogramma will be projected, a video documentary by ERT, the Greek National TV Station.
