Tantric Indian Bistro

This place has the most thoughtful and varied menu of anywhere we've seen in the area, and the cooking skills to match. They're evidently committed to providing a taste of authentic Indian cuisine from right across the subcontinent, and are always looking to expand their repertoire. The fish and lamb dishes are particularly good, but their careful use of fresh spicing across the board is wonderful (in fact, the scent and feel of the whole place makes us feel like we've slipped away to an upscale restaurant in India.) The wine list is also well chosen to complement the food, not fight against it. We live in Cambridge and are regulars at all the Indian restaurants there, but this place is totally worth the trip! And all this at basically the same prices you'd pay elsewhere, for much less impressive food - it's a bargain, and always a pleasure to return to.

We love Tantric, and go there everytime we go to the theater. Try the Chili-Cheese bread, its an interesting take on traditional Naan.

I go to Tantric once a week (including today) for the lunch buffet, which is the best I have found in the Boston area. I enjoy the fact that the buffet includes 3 vegetarian main dish options and that South Indian dishes are often included (not just the North Indian standard dishes that appear on most buffets in the US). It really makes my day when the dessert option is the cardamom-packed rice pudding! I work in the Theater District and Tantric is definitely a culinary highlight of the area.

Delicious food; large portions; great atmosphere; polite and attentive waitstaff; and a wine list that is both varied and affordable. The wine flight tastings are an interesting variation to the norm and an excellent opportunity to sample several tasty wines. Over several visits, Tantric has consistently impressed.
