10th Anniversary Celebration!
Gil Rose, conductor with Rinde Eckert, actor/singer Paul D. Miller/DJ Spooky, spin artist For a decade now, Gil Rose and his Boston Modern Orchestra Project have set the standard for the performance of works from the 20th and 21st centuries. One of the few full-size orchestras in the world dedicated to the works of living composers, BMOP turns its focus to works inspired by rock and roll in celebration of its 10th anniversary. This Boston Marquee performance features the American premiere of Steve Mackeys rock-infused Dreamhouse, composed for traditional symphony orchestra, twanging electric guitars, vocal quartet, and an undeniably theatrical front man in the person of actor/singer Rinde Eckert inhabiting a place between operatic tenor and Jim Morrison. The concert will also showcase Anthony Paul De Ritis Devolution featuring spin artist DJ Spooky, and the world premiere of a new work by Evan Ziporyn, commissioned by Bank of America Celebrity Series. Mr. Rose and his team filled the music with rich, decisive ensemble colors and magnificent solos. These musicians were rapturous superb instrumentalists at work and play. -The New York Times
