Sometimes I like to think that I'm a slimmed down, poor man's version of Andrew Zimmern, host of the Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods because I tend to try the more unusual dishes offered at a restaurant.
This time was no different. I went with the duck tongue and baby chive dish, which curiously enough is listed under the pork dishes on the menu. The tongue was tasty, sort of like the meat of the duck but slightly spongy with a small bone and cartilage in the middle. Stripping the meat using your teeth and discarding the bone and cartilage was a bit of work but well worth it. The only thing was the tofu in the dish, I'm not a big fan of it and might not had ordered this if the menu had listed it(there was quite a lot of it too) They also give you a small dish of peanuts and a nice somewhat spicy plate of cabbage to add to your meal, a nice welcomed touch.
Service was attentive and efficient which is as good as it gets in most Asian restaurant.
An already attractive place,Mulan is closing next week(May 4th-9th) in order to remodel its interior.
I'm looking forward to the grand reopening and trying the pork intestine in brown sauce or the eel with stick rice and gravy.....mmmmmm
