You won’t find many restaurants on the stretch of Broadway between Cambridge’s Inman and Kendall squares, though you will find garages and carpet stores and a beauty shop named Glamourama. The sweetly simple Spanish and Portuguese restaurant Con Sol, owned by Tony Amaral, who learned to cook in his father’s long-time Somerville restaurant, P.A. Seafood, isn't flashy or expensive. The highest item is $14 and that's for paella Valenciana, an admirable version of the Spanish classic. Kathleen Burge, Boston Globe (09/24/08)

Con Sol

I never do this, but I have to write a review to share the wonderful dining experience I had at Con Sol. The service was top-shelf, the food was incredible, and I enjoyed myself thoroughly at Con Sol. I had the ribs to start, a true gem of Cambridge and a dish I find hard pressed to duplicate in any kitchen. From there I ordered the house steak with an egg on top. Steak? Egg? Awesome. The thin-sliced potato side is the cat's pajamas. I will surely be back and recommend Con Sol to anyone and everyone!

I am by no means a picky eater. And this is the first review I have ever written on a restaurant. But the service and food were so poor, I had to vent my displeasure at having to spend $34 on such a terrible experience. I went in with a friend on a Tuesday night. We were one of three tables in the restaurant. It took ten minutes to take our order. Fifteen for our appetizer to come out, and forty-five minutes from the time we sat down until we recieved our meal. I had to ask for plates when we recieved our appetizer, and knives when our entree came. The cod I ordered was overcooked and oversalted. It was like eating a cube of salt, both in taste and texture. I hate bashing places, but for real Con Sol, step your game up.
