Olives, and Todd English's career, became the stuff of legend as the cult of celebrity chefs mushroomed in the 1990s. By the time the Englishes moved the restaurant to its current City Square space in 1992, Olives was the place to be. It was open five nights a week and didn't take reservations; diners were dying to get through the door to taste English's food and bask in the glittery surroundings, which meant a line started well before 5 p.m. (Full review)
