Bread and Roses Centennial Symposium

President of the AFL-CIO Richard Trumka will be the keynote speaker. The event will include performances and workshops inspired by the themes that informed the Bread and Roses Strike of 1912 in Lawrence. Many historians consider the strike to be the catalyst for labor movements worldwide. The event is presented by the Bread and Roses Centennial Committee, headed by UMass Lowell History Prof. Robert Forrant, who received UMass President’s Office grant funding for the initiative.
