Donna Bowen McDaniel, J56, and Vanessa Julye will discuss their book, Fit for Freedom, Not for Friendship: Quakers, African Americans, and the Myth of Racial Justice, which uncovers misperceptions about the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) historically supporting racial justice and equality. McDaniel and Julye “believe that only by understanding our past will we be able to create a future in which we are all one.” A book signing and reception will follow the talk.
