Once upon a time, in a land called the early 1970s, New York City was a hole. A bankrupt, dirty, cynical, exhausted sewer of urban blight, light years away from the city's current status as shiny tourist destination. There were movies made about this New York - "Dog Day Afternoon," "The French Connection," "The Out of Towners" - and one of the best, if least remembered, was 1974's "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three," about the hijacking of a subway train and the MTA dispatcher (Walter Matthau) who tries to stop it.

Taking of the Pelham 123

I saw the prescreening to this a couple of days ago. With remakes, there usually is some similarities between movies, however, this was complete different from what i remembered. The orginal was about 35 years ago and so, i am sure the use of characters are differnet now, as would be the technology we have today, and as well as the ransom amounts.

The entire movie was terrific. You've got action, you've got some funny jokes. I was very surprised at the sudden drop of the ending. It was a sudden stop, like there wasn't anything else to talk about so they just ended Ryder's life.

I think i would still like to see the movie again however, because it's NY and as crazy as it may sound, I love just everything abut NYC, including the rat that run up the sniper's pants! lol

Other than the abrupt ending it was a good movie to watch.
