Horrible Bosses
For Nick, Kurt and Dale, the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable bosses into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con, the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers -- permanently. There's only one problem: even the best laid plans are only as foolproof as the brains behind them.

The most startling comic vision in “Horrible Bosses’’ is Colin Farrell as Bobby Pellit, one of the three title terrors. The actor - sexy, stroppy, Irish - has reinvented himself as a vicious little freak with the aid of hair and makeup. But what hair and makeup! A greasy black comb-over barely hides Bobby’s bulging skull; the character seems top-heavy with bile and resentment. The beady eyes of a paranoid dart beneath a protuberant brow, and even Bobby’s goatee seems obscene. This is the kind of makeover Tom Cruise gave himself in “Tropic Thunder,’’ but Farrell goes further in turning his character into a surreal comic runt. If they gave out Oscars for creative debasement, he’d be a lock.
