I am a 53 year old, very passable (without thevoice) full-time transsexual woman.
I am a person that never lets politics, personalities or culture dictate how and
where I live my life. I go where I wish, speak to whomever I wish and live
openly, with dignity and self-esteem.
I had a wonderful time Friday evening at Capones. I met the owner, who welcomed
us with warmth and respect. A friend of mine that tends bar (I didn't know she
worked there), bought our first round and we were assisted in finding great
seating. We were asked if we wanted to order diner or appetizers. We decided on
stuffed potato skins, nachos with cheese and I had a small salad. The potato
skins and nachchos with all the fixins were hot, very flavorful and enough for 4
My brother and his girlfriend came in and joined us at our table and the owner
came over to say hi to her, as they have a history and have known each other for
years. What a hidden gem this venue turned out to be. I was very impressed at
the way people interacted with each other as though this place is a slice of
heaven in a not so forgiving world.
As a multi-cultural woman I saw many different cultures, ethnic backgrounds,
ages and genders all on the dance floor having a great time and generally just
living LIFE. I was never questioned, challenged or confronted by anyone at
Capones whether it be staff or patron. Everyone acted with kindness and
respect. There were Lesbian couples, Gay couples Transgender folks and
I wore jeans and a semi-provocative blouse and flat sandals. I never saw anyone
dressed flamboyant, provocative or controversial the entire evening and I stayed
until closing. As the evening wound down and people started to leave, my
brother's girlfriend introduced me to an older Gay couple they know and there
were other people that identify as LGBTIQ in the crowd too.
Overall, the evening was perfect and everyone there conducted themselves as
ADULTS just out having a good time. I would highly recommend CAPONES to anyone
looking for a friendly place to visit.
