Voted most humorous in high school. At 18, got $30 for his first stand-up gig, at a transvestite bar in Georgia. Dropped out of Emerson College for a stab at stand-up in Boston clubs, working alongside Janeane Garofalo and Marc Maron. First TV job was as a replacement writer on the short-lived Ben Stiller Show, where he met future comedy collaborator Bob Odenkirk; won an Emmy for his writing.
