The Fat Cat

24 Chestnut St., Quincy, MA, 02269
(617) 471-4363 - Venue Website

This popular new Quincy eatery is a cross between a bistro and a gastro-pub. You can get a killer burger with hand-cut fries or a decadent bowl of lobster mac 'n cheese. Don't miss barbecue pork nachos or house wings (choose from among eight sauces). Baby back ribs are smoky and succulent, and don't leave without the thick-as-a-brick brownie sundae. A cute cocktail menu has a cat theme. The Cheshire Cat, made with various vodkas, is guaranteed to make you grin. (03/05/08, Bella English)

Fat Cat

I tried to like the Fat Cat, but i'm never impressed with the place. While the fried pickles are tasty, the buffalo wings lean towards the fatty side. The pork ribs, mediocre at best. Maybe with time they'll improve, but for now they're off the list

One of Quincy's best

I'm sorry that kittykisses had a hard time getting seated, but I would say that this is one of the very few drawbacks to this place--it seems to be always mobbed.

The food was excellent, the service was efficient and good-natured, and the ambience was distinctly more sophisticated than we Quincy-diners are used to.

Check it out, but get there early!

Just what Quincy needed!

This hidden gem is a great place for excellent food served quickly by attentive wait staff and bartenders. At each visit, the owner has stopped by our table to ask about our meals. I'd go there more often (and you should too), but be prepared to wait. The Fat Cat is small but worth it.

Don't bother to go here

We just had one of the worst experiences at a restaurant ever. My husband, sister, and I went for dinner but left because they never seated us. When we arrived, we gave our name and were told it would be 30-40 minutes. After about 30 minutes, we noticed that couples were being seated who came in after us. One of the bartenders checked for us and told us we would be seated soon. Then two young women next to us at the bar were asked if they wanted to sit at a just cleared high top. They had just walked in. When we went up to the hostess and told her we had been waitng now for over an hour and had noticed couples being seated who had come in after us, she said it was a small place and they had no table for us because they couldn't make people leave. I asked why we weren't asked if we wanted the high top. She told us they only seat two people at them although there are 4 stools. We then decided to leave and were offered a table immediately. We will never go back to this place. They do not know how to treat customers fairly.
