Inspired by the intimate and rustic settings of California’s Sonoma Valley and the modern Gastropubs of Britain,
Sonoma is, the Gastropub of the North Shore.
What is a Gastropub?
A Gastropub is a British term for a Public House that specializes in high quality food, a step above the more basic “Pub Grub”. Gastropubs usually have an atmosphere that is a little more relaxed than traditional restaurants but more upscale than a traditional pub. The focus is to provide fine cuisine prepared as well as you would in the best restaurants. The phrase was coined in 1991 when David Eyer and Mike Belben opened a pub called the “Eagle” in London. They placed emphasis on the quality of food served and not just the traditional “Pub Grub".
Building on this concept, in addition to offering upscale “Pub Grub” and rustic Flatbread Pizza, Sonoma also offers a diverse selection of gourmet cuisine prepared with traditional cooking styles from around the world.
Whether you’re looking to enjoy a fine dining experience, a family dinner or just a few drinks after work, the intimate and elegant, yet relaxed setting of Sonoma makes it the perfect place for all ages and occasions.
Take a few minutes to escape your surroundings, step out of Salem and into Sonoma, the Gastropub of the Northshore.

What a find!!! This is a great little place, very comfortable, great service, drinks and menu. We had a fantastic pork chop dish that was huge and absolutely delicious. Pizza was great and ingredients were very fresh. The staff couldn't have been nicer and will definitely return.
BTW. They make everything on the premises including their own bread, mayonnaise and sauces to name a few!!!

We went for dinner and had the experience of a lifetime. The restaurant is very small, full of atmosphere, has a beautiful bar with about 10 seats and two pedestal tables that seat another four people. The dining room is very small, and can serve about 18 people. We were very excited to try this new restaurant, as the menu looked awesome, the variety meets expectations for any pocket, and the casualness is always an asset, especially in this part of town. The drinks were generous, especially the wine...a full glass and reasonable prices. Now for the food....some of the tapas were very tasty, the entres were generous and desserts excellent. The problem is that they still need to get their act together with waitstaff, as well as service. There is only one waitress for the entire restaurant, NO bus backup, no one to greet people when they walk in and the service is very slow. The food is delicious, but it came out cold, and with all the noise and confusion would have been a disaster to send back for at least room temperature. Be sure to check your check as we had been billed double on one of the appetizers. I hope that they can work on the service, perhaps getting more staff, and improved the timing to get the food out hot. Otherwise, a fun place to go....but not for a quiet romantic evening....VERY noisy accoustically.
