Somerville taqueria offers intriguing fare

From the outside, the low brick building on the edge of Union Square that houses Cantina La Mexicana looks like a dentist’s office, so we were surprised, happily, to enter and find ourselves in a room painted with bright, earthy colors. Carved columns support wooden arches that make the large room seem more intimate. The bar, where a television was turned — quietly — to a World Cup match, is decorated with hanging lights.
