Eco-Art: Forest Floor Ecology

Join us for one or more of these eco-art programs this summer!Forest Floor Ecology: July 12The forest floor is a habitat teeming with life. Using hand lenses, we will examine the anatomy of earthworms, sow bugs, salamanders, centipedes, fungi, and more. We will explore the layers of the leaf litter and then construct a plate garden using natural materials.River Ecology: July 19We will construct a simple sailboat from bark and leaves, and then we will hike to the river to sail our tiny schooners.… Show more Using strainers and buckets, we will dip for organisms from the river's edge, look for evidence of beavers, and scan for birds from the observation tower.Crickets and Grasshoppers: July 26Come explore with us as we examine a field and learn why crickets and grasshoppers sing, how they jump and eat, and what their similarities are. On our return, we will create and build our very own creatures from recycled materials.Bird Nests: August 2Come learn how different birds build their nests and what natural materials they use.
