July 10After we read Who Lives in a Tree? by Susan Canizares, we'll take a hike to find signs of animals hiding in and around our forest trees. Let's find out what types of insects live in our area. Using sweep nets, we'll observe them in the gardens and fields of the sanctuary. Become an insect as we learn about their life cycles through observation and songs.Who's Hiding in and Around the Pond? July 24After reading About Amphibians by Catherine Sill, we will explore the dark and mysterious vernal pool habitat, looking under logs and leaves and in the water. We will then hike to the Bunker Meadows wetlands, and using simple kitchen tools we'll discover a wonderful variety of invertebrates.Who's That Singing? July 31When we read Feathers for Lunch by Lois Ehlert, no one gets eaten, but we do meet some of our most common and colorful birds. We will also examine some bird mounts and learn some bird songs.
