CK Shanghai

I was a fan of CK Sau's restaurant, New Shanghai, in Chinatown and was sorry to see that he sold the place and moved to the suburbs. I visited the new restaurant in Wellesley and arrived at 9 with a friend. I noticed they closed at 9:30 and thought that I arrived with plenty of time to enjoy my meal. The staff had other plans though, and in their rush to get me out, ruined what was otherwise a great meal. We ordered many dishes and a bottle of wine. Before we were half way through with the food, they brought the check. Minutes later, the manager came over and asked us to pay as they were closing. Annoyed, I thought to myself, "why did they let me order food and wine if they planned on rushing us out before we were done?". After paying, they turned the lights all the way up and hovered. Keep in mind that it was now only 10:00 p.m. We were there for an hour and they were throwing us out! We are not slow eaters and didn't come in as the doors were closing. Were we wrong to expect decent service? It was appalling to say the least. We would have been glad to order it to go if they had just told us they planned on putting us out by 10. The food was good but the bad service means we'll never return.
